Internationale Taiko Bootcamp Japan

WHY?
Not everybody is in the opportunity to go to Japan so that’s why we decided to organize a taiko drumming bootcamp in the Netherlands too. Participants from Europe can save the costs for an airplane ticket to Japan. But other than that, the summer season is a perfect time for many people to spend a holiday and Holland is a perfect place since it is not too hot in summer.

WHEN?
This 1-week international taiko bootcamp will take place from 17 until 24 August 2025.

WHERE?
The bootcamp will take place in the small village called Kloosterburen in the province of Groningen.
The hotel (Herberg het Klooster), a former monastery founded in 1926, is booked exclusively for the taiko bootcamp participants. It is very spacious with 16 rooms each having a private shower and toilet. The number of single rooms (for which an additional fee is charged) is limited and it is first come, first served.
The accommodation has a living room for guests, a library, a dining room and a huge garden.

FOR WHOM?
This taiko bootcamp will be open for everybody who wants to practice and play taiko, from beginners to advanced. It is a good opportunity to develop and improve your taiko skills and techniques and also a great way to meet other taiko players from all over the world.
English shall be the main language of communication during the bootcamp.
The minimum number of participants is 10 people and the maximum is 20 people.

BY WHO?
This taiko bootcamp is organized by Tentekomai. The taiko lessons will be given by Akira Sakaue and Katsuyoshi Kojima.

WHAT?
The bootcamp will be an intensive taiko drumming week, with every morning a 4-hour class in which people practice new rhythms and styles and learn a song together which they will perform as a finale in the presence of a small audience.
In the afternoon various workshops, like a Katsugi Okedo drumming workshop, an Odaiko class, Japanese flute lesson and Narimono (chappa and atarigane) workshop.
Since the location is near the sea we will also offer a guided mudflood hiking tour.

HOW MUCH?
The participation fee for joining this all-inclusive taiko bootcamp week is € 1950,00 (including 21% VAT)
If participants bring their own taiko drum(s) for playing during the taiko bootcamp, a discount of €100,00 will be given on the participation fee.

This includes:

Participation into the taiko lessons
Use of music instruments and bachi
Hotel stay including breakfast
Joint lunch (6 days)
Joint dinner (7 days)
Participation into the afternoon program (as described above)
Personal transport during bootcamp program (if necessary)
